Here’s How We Can All Help Bring Home Wins
The week started off wonderfully as Democrat Tom Keen won the special election for Florida State House District 35, which had been in Republican hands for decades, and where DeSantis won by 11 points. With a tremendous ground game and phone effort (many thanks if you were part of it), the team flipped it 13 points against a better funded and previously-elected Republican opponent! Simply put: proof that human-to-human contact is the key to victory!
We’ve also spent the past week working for peace, domestically and internationally, and we’ve been working for social, economic, environmental, and racial justice, as well.
We have a packed week before us, and we hope you’ll join us in our actions!
Just an hour here or there can make a real difference when it’s focused on a productive project.
Please pick one or more of these actions/projects, and let’s make some noise together!
1) Progressive Virtual Town Hall Sunday: Defeating Trumpists with Progressive Candidates and Policies. Join our featured guest Rep. Barbara Lee, peace champion and PDA-endorsed candidate for Senate from CA. Barbara is not only been a rock solid progressive vote in the House for decades, but she is arguably the most peace-positive member of Congress. You’ll leave energized, organized, and definitely more hopeful. We hope you’ll join us.
2) Join the National Phone Team. Sign up with this juggernaut and make a real difference an hour here, an hour there, on your schedule. Sign up here, let us know what day you can set an hour aside, and we’ll get you cookin’ calling fellow PDA folks. We’ll make sure you’re doing something easy but productive!
3) Become a local Congressional Office Liaison. Work with others in your area to promote progressive legislation. Sign up here and we’ll get you all the training you need to be successful.
4) For “Clicktivists”—Sign/Share:
- More weapons and war aren’t the way. Tell Pres. Biden: Cut the Pentagon budget!
- Sign the petition: End the death penalty;
Sign the petition: Ban single-use plastics;
- Ask your US House Rep. to support the resolution to block weapon sales used in war crimes against the people of Gaza;
Sign the petition: We need federal legislation to tackle rampant voter suppression;
End preferential tax treatment for millionaire fund managers: tell your Senators to co-sponsor the “Ending the Carried Interest Loophole Act” today;
- Sign to support the resolution in Congress for immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine;
- Tell Pres. Biden: Demand the Israeli government ban the use of white phosphorus;
Sign the petition: Ban assault weapons;
- Sign if you agree: Speaker Mike Johnson is a dangerous extremist;
- Join our Click Brigade if you’re up for quick and easy rapid-response “likes” and shares across a multitude of platforms.
