November 3, 2026, will be remembered as one of the greatest days in American political history. The Democratic Party, defying the odds and overcoming record-shattering spending by Trump’s billionaire allies, won control of both Houses of Congress starting on January 3rd.

This spectacular result, a true national landslide with victories in regions where Democrats haven’t won in decades, is an overwhelming affirmation by the American people for democracy (aka popular sovereignty), common decency, and a fair economy – and a total rebuke of Donald Trump, kleptocracy, and rule by a super-wealthy elite who live beyond the reach of the law.

Yesterday the American people stood up and told the oligarchs, loud and clear: This Land is Our Land.

And none of it would have been possible without the tireless commitment of progressive activists and organizations, such as PDA, that maintain the cohesion of the massive nationwide progressive movement.

Literally, thousands upon thousands of you who are reading this email deserve not only congratulations but our gratitude for helping to achieve one of the greatest political victories in the history of modern democracy, one that preserves our democratic society.

A victory that grants us the privilege to do as we always do at PDA – to get back to work. We have to clean up Trump’s catastrophic mess (hold the vandals accountable) and return to building a country of, by, and for the people.
