Help PDA Sustain Progress
We Need Your Support Now
As 2018 comes to a close, American progressives can look back on a tumultuous year with a sense of satisfaction. There were certainly horrible moments, but we persevered and fought back. Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was at the center of fight back against Trumpism in 2018, as well as at the heart of the campaign to win back the House, supporting Progressive candidates all across the country.
We Progressives led the charge, working non-stop to help generate the greatest mid-term voter turnout in history. Democrats did what statisticians told us was a near-impossibility—we overcame an imbalanced, gerrymandered playing field and won back the House of Representatives!
Help Sustain Progressive Momentum
Sustain The Mass Movement For Progress
PDA activists organized non-stop for progressive victories. The results on Election Day not only profound expressed the American people’s commitment to Democracy; they also delivered a stunning rebuke to Trump and the GOP’s brand of authoritarianism. Our victories at the polls also propelled the progressive agenda to center stage like we haven’t seen in recent history.
Heading into 2019, PDA is once again on the front lines of the progressive movement. As the Democratic majority takes control of the House—and progressives are leading the way on the biggest public policy matters of our time—PDA is in the inner circle. We’re often helping to draft, and then support, the most important legislation of our time.
On Healthcare: alongside our allies including the National Nurses United (NNU), Our Revolution, Public Citizen, and many others, PDA is once again leading the charge for a single payer health care system. As a founding member of the movement for Medicare For All, PDA is a key member of the coalition currently drafting and mobilizing for the new version of HR 676, the Medicare For All Act, that will be re-introduced by Congressperson Pramila Jayapal in January. Support PDA as we’re pushing for this necessary policy to become a reality
On the Climate Emergency: PDA is on the front lines demanding public policy that truly addresses the crisis. PDA activists and staffers worked with PDA Advisory Board Member Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to help draft and support the Off Fossil Fuels (OFF) Act (HR 3671), the most progressive Climate Crisis legislation yet introduced in Congress. We are working on the preliminary drafting of Green New Deal Legislation. We’re working with a new ally, the Sunrise Movement, which attracted international headlines with an exciting sit-in at Leader Nancy Peloisi’s office with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a few days after the midterm elections. We’re allied with several other leading environmental organizations advancing the most progressive climate legislation.
On Voting Rights: As the Democrats are poised to introduce one of the the most extensive voting rights measures in U.S. history as part of the first bill (H.R. 1) to be introduced in the new session. PDA has been mobilizing for democratic reforms and voter protection since our founding in 2004, and we will be right there supporting the bill. Along with our sibling organization People Demanding Action, we will continue to push until voting rights, same day registration, clean and secure elections, and several other reforms are a reality in the USA.
On Foreign Policy: Simply put, no national multi-issue organization has been as committed to the cause of peace as PDA. Trump—with his erratic and confusing actions—has shaken up the international order. We have never needed a sane re-orientation of U. S foreign policy and a necessary downsizing of the military industrial complex more than we do right now. PDA and our allies are working to radically recast U.S. foreign policy, and to establish the United States as an peaceful, honest ally to people across the world. We’re mobilizing to end wars and occupations, halt arms sales to aggressive regimes and repudiate regime change policies, and to support peace and coexistence. PDA is pushing for a new US foreign policy consistent with the values of the peace movement.
On Economics, on criminal justice, immigration, net neutrality, surveillance, women’s rights and, of course, electoral politics, PDA will be fully engaged in 2019. With your help PDA will work to enact the most progressive policies that must be, and can be, achieved during these exciting times! Next year could be a year like no other in recent memory, now that progressive politics (in no small part, thanks to PDA) are at the heart of the national political dialogue.
Of course, all this organizing costs money, and the best way to support us is to become a PDA sustainer. We don’t get a dime from corporations or billionaires. We rely on activists like you. Please give $100, $27, $10, or $5 each month. We promise to deliver more activism per dollar than any other organization.
If you are a political progressive, we are your team! At the start of 2019, there is no more important organization in the country than PDA, when it comes to fighting for the politics that we need at this historic moment. Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) is all about building a grassroots populist progressive majority. Join the movement we’ve been building since 2004. “Make your dollars holler” by becoming a Change Makes Change (CMC) monthly sustainer, or by increasing your sustainer commitment!
Your monthly gift sustains us and our efforts. Sustainers help us budget our time and efforts, and aid in preparing rapid response to the whirlwind of policy initiatives, executive orders, court decisions, indictments, and especially the general chaos that swirls around the Trump fiasco. We need to enroll 100 new sustainers by the end of the year, and I hope you will become one of them. Please give $250, $27, $10, or $5 each month to PDA. Your sustaining gift keeps us on track to win victories for all of us.

Whatever is good for you is great for us. Thanks so much for anything you can do right now to help us reach our magic 100 sustainers by New Years goal.
