What Price Justice?
By Debra Schrishuhn for Donna, Mike F., Judy, Mike H., Janis, Dan, Kimberly, Bryan, and Dr. Bill—Your PDA National Team
We as Progressives must get really, really serious. What price would you put on justice, progress, even basic humanity? All of our ideals are under attack. Their value is beyond measure. These are dark days. The Supreme Court upheld the administration’s anti-Muslim travel ban. The House passed legislation to increase hunger among the most vulnerable Americans. The Department of (In)Justice has implemented a cruel “zero tolerance” policy against migrants including ripping children from their parents’ arms.
So much is at risk now. Emboldened by Trump, violent extremism and hate crimes are on the rise. Police continue to shoot and abuse unarmed African Americans. Now, the Environmental Protection Agency is granting licenses to hunt and drill on national lands. The vow “JUSTICE OR BUST” has never been more timely or urgent.
Progressive Democrats of America does not just say the words; we act on those beliefs. We put our bodies in the streets and in the halls of Congress. We rally progressives of every stripe to support courageous progressive leaders for Congress. There was a hugely consequential election in 2016, and we lost that one. We cannot lose the chance to flip both the House and the Senate in November.
We understand that it is not enough to elect just any Democrats. We must help elect bolder, more progressive Democrats in the remaining primaries, and we must help the progressive Democrats who get through the primaries win in the general election.
PDA needs your help now more than ever. With the primaries heating up (along with the climate), and so much else going on, please pitch in whatever you can right now. $27, $20, $12, or $5 per month could make all the difference in a close election, a key congressional vote, or other important outcome. Any amount is welcome!
Dear friend, we don’t have the luxury to do one thing at a time. While we help elect progressives, we must also keep marching and rallying to protect families, advance healthcare, resist increasing militarism, and stop the scourge of gun violence. We can do this, but we cannot do it without your help. Make a monthly gift at whatever level you can afford, and get calls for JUSTICE OR BUST ringing through the streets and in the halls of Congress.
Help sustain our activism—after the healthcare conference in Minnesota, marches to keep families together, and other visible efforts, we’re running low on materials again. Please pitch in. We need your monthly support to buy and send materials to activists for rallies, marches, parades, and conferences.
Sustaining gifts of $27, $20, $12, or $5 per month help us budget our resources and reorder rally signs, bumper and lapel stickers, and buttons to amplify our message to hold elected officials accountable and to elect new and more progressive officials.
Simply put, we are working our tails off, exposing injustice, pushing for progressive legislation and candidates, and opposing those who would shove our government into oligarchy and totalitarian repression. But we can’t do it alone. We need your voice on the phone and your feet in the street. We also need your sustaining financial support.
Will you give a monthly sustaining gift of any amount? Together, we have made a difference, and with your continuing support we will keep on fighting for progressive values and champions who are not bought and paid for by billionaires, Big Oil, Big Pharma, or the NRA.
In solidarity for the long fight,
Debra Schrishuhn for Donna, Mike F., Judy, Mike H., Janis, Dan, Kimberly, Bryan, and Dr. Bill—Your PDA National Team
