You are Invited to this Sunday’s Progressive Town Hall: |
Join us on Zoom at 4pm ET/3pm CT/2pm MT/1pm PT/Noon AK/11am HI, |
this Sunday, November 3, 2025 |
We’ll hear from one of the great progressive champions in Congress, Rep. Jim McGovern (MA-3), about how Trump is exploiting the government shutdown to launch unprecedented attacks on our social safety net—and what we can do to combat this cruelty. |
We’ll also rally support for progressive candidates and causes in Tuesday’s elections. |
As the Federal Government shutdown moves into its second month, the Trump administration’s Department of Agriculture has announced that it will not use available emergency funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – commonly referred to as food stamps – after November 1, tomorrow. More than 40 million Americans will be immediately impacted. |
This cruel and unnecessary action will spark the gravest hunger crisis in the United States in living memory.Representative Jim McGovern is the chairman of the board of the Congressional Hunger Center and is one of the strongest advocates for and defenders of the SNAP program in Congress. Rep. McGovern posted this statement on Instagram yesterday: “Trump is about to become the first president *ever* to cancel nutrition assistance. This afternoon in Worcester, I joined local leaders to announce immediate help for those struggling to put food on the table. We must support our neighbors as this administration hurts those in need.” Join us this Sunday at 4pm ET/.1pm PT, when Rep. McGovern will lay out what we can do, and need to do, to combat Trump’s cruelty and prevent mass starvation in the wealthiest country in the world. RSVP Now! We’ll also hear updates on Tuesday’s key elections in Virginia, New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and New York City – and you’ll learn how you can help lift progressive candidates and causes to victory through PDA’s campaign team.
