Sunday Town Hall: Betty Yee and Erika Andiola. Practicing Solidarity, Building a Progressive Future.
Join us Sunday at 4pm ET/1pm PT for an online Town Hall with Betty Yee, Progressive Candidate for Governor of California, and Immigrant Rights Organizer Erika Andiola. RSVP Now!
On Sunday’s Town Hall, we’ll focus on two very important tasks for progressives, following Trump and the GOP’s victory in the federal elections:1. Electing progressives to statewide office in blue states; 2. Defending immigrant communities.
Our first guest will be California’s State Comptroller, Betty Yee, who has announced that she is running for Governor in 2026. Yee is a progressive and she will discuss her vision for the most populous and wealthiest state in the country.
Is it possible for California to become the progressive beacon, a rejoinder to MAGA’s reactionary program that Trump will implement? In recent years, California has steered away from an ambitious progressive economic agenda, but Yee promises to reverse that. On Sunday, Comptroller Yee will outline her program for California, and make the case that a progressive government in Sacramento can be a game-changer for the entire country.
Indeed, Trump’s program will do very little for the poor, middle- and working-class voters that returned him to office. Similarly, centrist Democrats continue to support status quo economics, even though the majority of Americans feel the economy is not working for them. Only progressives have an economic program in line with the wishes of the American people—to center the needs of average households and re-build a prosperous middle class society. If Betty Yee wins the Governor’s race and successfully implements her economic policies, it will show the country that only progressives can deliver what the population wants—that we, and not Trump, are truly on their side.
Then, we will be joined by one of the country’s leading immigrant rights advocates, Erika Andiola, a longtime friend of PDA. Erika is currently the Communications Director at The Young Center for Immigrant Human Rights; and she will outline the many ways that PDAers and our allies can get directly involved in defending the rights of immigrants in the United States.
This is a very important moment for progressives. There’s a leadership void in the Democratic party. We have to seize the moment and re-introduce the progressive agenda to the general public as the program that best serves their interests. At the same time, we have an opportunity to prove our commitment to our principles, by defending those under attack by the Trump regime. It’s time to take action!
See you on Sunday at 4pm ET/1pm PT. RSVP here.
In solidarity,
Alan Minsky for the PDA National Team
