The influential Federal PAC Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) has announced its endorsement of Democratic Nominee Marc Friedenberg in the May 12th Special Election to represent Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District. Friedenberg is running to fill the seat that was vacated by Congressman Tom Marino (R-PA) in January.

PDA was the sole national organization to call upon Bernie Sanders to run for president in advance of the 2016 election cycle. PDA is selective about which congressional candidates it endorses, choosing only those that support a broad and definitively progressive agenda.

PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky said, “We are proud to endorse Marc Friedenberg for Congress. We recognize that Marc is a committed and effective progressive who supports single-payer Medicare For All health care, strong climate and environmental policies, and living wages for workers.”

“An educator himself, Marc is a fierce advocate for investing in education. He teaches at Penn State University, a nationally renowned institution of higher learning located in the district. A specialist in cyber law, Marc has defended the people of Pennsylvania’s 12th District against Wall Street’s predatory practices. He has also organized to defend the Affordable Care Act on their behalf.”

“Marc is already known for his public service, and his deep understanding of the people and the communities that make up the 12th District. Also, he brilliantly explains how and why the policies he champions will directly help his prospective constituents thrive.”

“For all of these and other reasons, PDA has confidence that Marc will be a great Representative for North/Central Pennsylvania. PDA is proud to endorse Marc Friedenberg for Congress in the upcoming special election. We look forward to his victory and his continued public service.”
