It’s been a tradition at PDA to do a Progressive Central event during each Democratic National Committee Convention since our inception in 2004. We’ve been joined by progressive federal and state elected officials, leading national progressive activists and organizers, and this year will be no different. We’ll be discussing issues and strategies that will bring victories home in November, and this Sunday we’ll give an overview of the current plans, and how you may participate.

We’re also very excited to have outstanding progressive Jamie McLeod-Skinner as our featured speaker.

In the opinion of PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky, “There may be no more important election across the entire country than Oregon’s 5th District. The progressive candidate there, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, is a transformative politician, who is advocating for the type of policies that will make a positive impact on the lives of Americans in small towns and rural areas from coast-to-coast. Jamie’s program is so well designed to address endemic issues that plague so much of the country, it would turn rural America from MAGA red to progressive blue.”

McLeod-Skinner will instantly be one of the most important members in Congress from a PDA perspective. Not only will she be one of the few Democrats outside of New England to represent a heavily rural district in Congress, she will be an even rarer breed—a progressive representing a rural district—as such, Jamie will be a transformative figure in American politics.

Jamie was a major contributor to the development of the Rural New Deal that PDA composed along with the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative, and will bring that innovative energy to DC.
