PDA is proud to endorse Greg Casar to represent Texas’ 35th Congressional District.

Only 32 years of age, Greg Casar is already in his third term on Austin’s City Council where he has established himself as one of the City’s and the region’s leading progressive advocates. Since most voters of the newly drawn 35th District are in Metro Austin, Greg has a strong chance of securing the Democratic nomination by receiving 50 percent of the vote in the March 1st primary. (Incumbent Lloyd Doggett is running in the 37th District this year.)

Greg is a true progressive champion. He supports Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, immigrant rights, housing as a human right, and every major federal legislative initiative backed by PDA. He is also a powerful, charismatic spokesperson, and an unwavering advocate for left progressive politics in the heart of Texas’ political culture. It will be a blessing for the people and the planet to have Greg Casar in the U.S. House of Representatives.

As such, all progressives nationwide should support Greg’s campaign. As an added bonus, a victory on the first election day of 2022 will improve the prospects for progressive candidates across the country; and can alter the political narrative for the entire year. We can make 2022 the year that progressive policies came to define a new, positive Democratic Party—and it all begins in Texas!
