Responding to the investigation of four U.S. soldiers killed by ISIS-affiliated fighters in Niger, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said, “The Administration’s contradictory policies are draining American resources and putting U.S. servicemembers’ lives on the line in Niger and different parts of the world to support the so-called war on terror without a clearly defined strategy or objectives. Americans have paid the price, not just in the loss of life of those fighting these wars, but in communities across the country—Puerto Rico, Flint, Michigan, Hawaiʻi and others—that can’t afford to rebuild crippling infrastructure, fund education and healthcare, and so much more. The Trump Administration must provide the American people with answers—what are our soldiers doing in Niger, what is their objective, and what exactly is the strategy for this ‘war on terror’?”

Responding to North Korea’s latest threats of nuclear war, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said, “North Korea’s tight grip on its nuclear weapons program is Kim Jong-Un’s only deterrent against U.S.-led regime change. With Hawaiʻi and the West Coast of the United States directly within range of North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missiles, President Trump must immediately engage directly with Kim Jong-Un, without pre-conditions, to find a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to this crisis.”
