Medicare For All Letter to Your Congressperson
This week Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) helped make history, standing with 107 original sponsors and dozens of progressive organizations at the launch of Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s Medicare For All Act. You can help us gain even more support for this critically important legislation.
As our ally Social Security Works explains, “Medicare for All will guarantee access to health care with comprehensive benefits, without premiums, co-pays or deductibles. It will improve Medicare for older adults and people with disabilities, and include dental, vision, prescription drugs, and long-term care. This legislation will reduce health care spending and the cost of prescription drugs.” Click here to sign on as a grassroots cosponsor of Medicare For All. We have other important actions for you to do this coming week—see below.

PDA makes it easy for you to tell Congress:
We need a Green New Deal
We don’t need a border wall
We need gun safety legislation
PDA is not slowing down at all. This evening, PDA Arizona is cohosting an event with John Nichols—a prolific author, blogger, columnist for The Nation magazine, contributing writer to The Progressive and In These Times, and board member of national Progressive Democrats of America, John Nichols will once again generously donate his time to rally Southern Arizona’s progressive troops.
PDA AZ, Pima Area Labor Federation, and Our Revolution – Arizona for Bernie Sanders welcome John Nichols tonight—Saturday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm local time, at the IBEW Union Hall – 750 South Tucson Blvd. Tucson, AZ. If you can get there, you’ll see and hear from a commentator for the BBC, and a guest on Meet the Press, Bill Moyers Journal, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and PBS.
John is a co-founder of the media reform group Free Press, he has testified before Congress and the FCC, and lectured at dozens of universities. He authored or co-authored more than a dozen books on media, democracy, and technological change. His most recent books are Horsemen of the Trumpocalypse: A Field Guide to the Most Dangerous People in America (Bold Type Books, 2017), and The Capital Times: A Proudly Radical Newspaper’s Century Long Fight for Justice and Peace, with David Zweifel (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2017). Contact Dan O’Neal to organize a similar event.
Watch your email box tomorrow. PDA is going to open voting on whether or not we should endorse Bernie Sanders for president.
Call Congress 202-858-1717–urge your Representative
to cosponsor Rep. Jayapal’s Medicare For All Act now!
PDA is working with a wide coalition to gain more cosponsors for the Medicare For All Act. Join the effort by delivering an Educate Congress letter to your representative at a district office near you. Contact MikeFox@PDAmerica.org if you can drop a letter to your congressperson. (We will provide a letter you can use.)
PDA is teaming up with Code Pink and our Advisory Board member and original cofounder Medea Benjamin mobilizing to prevent war and regime change in Venezuela. Please click here to contact congressional Democrats using Code Pink’s action alert, and urge them to stand up against Trump’s illegal regime change policies. We held a briefing call with Medea Benjamin in support of this action. The recording will be available soon.
PDA is working with our sibling organization People Demanding Action on exciting webinars to focus on election integrity and ending voter suppression; ending poverty and homelessness; outreach to rural, urban, minority, and younger progressives; as well as organizing on college campuses—and much more! We can’t do anything without your strong support.
We hope you appreciate these action alerts, briefing calls, congressional meetings, webinars, and other organizing efforts enough to support us so we can keep them coming. Please pitch in $1000, $100, or whatever you can afford to support our organizing for progress!
P.S. We’re here to help you make progress in your state and locality! If you need help organizing a new PDA chapter or energizing your existing chapter, please contact PDA Field Coordinator Dan O’Neal. Join the PDA Phone Team making easy, effective calls from your own home with Mike “Phone Guy” Fox. Also please pitch in whatever you can afford to support our organizing on Medicare For All.
