The result in the New York City Democratic Party Primary sparked celebrations and sent shock waves across the entire country. State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, an unapologetic Democratic Socialist running a no-holds-barred pro-working class progressive campaign, crushed the corrupt centrist establishment-backed candidate Andrew Cuomo in one of the great results in the history of American progressive politics.

Instantly, the heretofore dominant neo-liberal wing of the Democratic Party went into panic mode, as everything the progressive left has been saying about the necessity of running on a platform that speaks directly to the needs of working people was confirmed.

But what does a victory like this change in the battle for the soul of the Democratic Party; and how can progressives best build upon Mamdani’s victory?  We will address both of these questions on Sunday.

And we’ll also get an update from Arizona on PDA-endorsed candidate Adelita Grijalva’s race for Congress against conservative Democratic opposition.
