Saturday would have been Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 93rd birthday. His family led a voting rights rally in Arizona to honor the day. Voting rights rallies are being organized across the U.S. on Monday, the federal holiday honoring Dr. King, and we at PDA are spending the weekend organizing alongside many allies for these events.

On Monday, as Sen. Raphael Warnock noted in an NPR interview last week, lots of politicians will mouth lots of platitudes about Dr. King, but what will they DO to honor his legacy? We ABSOLUTELY MUST PASS voting rights legislation, and it’s going to take massive amounts of continuing grassroots pressure to do so.

PDA is working 24/7 to ensure big attendance at these rallies. We are endorsing bold progressive champions for congressional seats in 2022. And our Congressional Office Liaison Team is educating elected officials on the imperative need for action on voting rights legislation.
