Today on “Candidates Tuesday,” Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) reviews some of our shared victories, and mobilizes for more successes.
While the COVID-19 Pandemic throws everything into flux—including primary elections, party conventions, and possibly even the general election—PDA is staying focused on making the best of this perilous situation. We’re offering you ways to stay engaged and involved while maintaining safe self-quarantine protocols.
No one knows how long these emergency responses must continue. PDA convened the first in a series of Healthcare Emergency webinars on Sunday, and will hold the second tomorrow, Wednesday March 25th. Click Here to contact Mike Fox to RSVP and get call-in information.
As we continue advocating for safe behavior and appropriate legislation, we’re also continuing our work on behalf of excellent progressive candidates.

PDA Elect Strong Progressives in 2020
We need your help and support right now to elect strong progressives. Your automatic monthly sustainer or one-time donation will provide us with the resources we need to make a true blue wave sweep this year. Here’s the latest on our endorsed candidates:
Marie Newman won her primary rematch against “Conserva-Dem” Dan Lipinksi. Marie barely lost to Lipinski in 2018, and is heavily favored to win in Illinois’ 3rd District—a “safe” majority-Democratic Chicago-area jurisdiction. We’ll let you know if Marie needs any help, but for now we’re focused on supporting other candidates who face tougher challenges.
Andrew Romanoff did the best of all the Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate in the Colorado caucus. Now Andrew heads into the Colorado primary with a solid chance to win the nomination and defeat incumbent Republican Senator Cory Gardner. We need to flip the Senate, and Andrew is just the candidate to get the job done.
Mike Siegel also did the best in his primary, out-polling two other top-tier candidates. He will participate in a runoff currently scheduled for July 14th, hoping for a rematch against incumbent Republican Michael McCaul in Texas’ 10th Congressional District. Mike fell just 4% short of defeating McCaul in 2018.
Senator Ed Markey is in a tough campaign in Massachusetts for reelection to the U.S. Senate. Ed is a lead sponsor of critically important legislation like the Green New Deal, and we need to keep his strong leadership in the U.S. Senate.
Betsy Sweet is running an inclusive, grassroots, people-powered campaign for U.S. Senate from Maine. We see her as by far the best candidate to face and replace Susan Collins—the so-called “moderate” who has been a loyal vote for Trump on everything from confirming right wing judges (Gorsuch, Kavanaugh) to extreme xenophobic and corporate-centric policies.
Eva Putzova is running strongly against a GOP-Lite former Republican incumbent in Arizona’s 1st District. She explains, “As a policymaker, I put people first. I’m determined to bring that perspective into the Congress. I value fairness, inclusion, justice, peace, and democracy.”
You can help all of these empowered progressive champions by making easy, effective phone calls from your own home, and/or by pitching in whatever you can to our Win 2020 Victory Fund. We promise we will make the best possible use of every single penny to elect every single endorsed candidate.
If you can give $5 per month, that’s great! $10? Wonderful! $25? Spectacular! Whatever is good for you is great for us. Thanks so much for anything you can do right now to help us reach our goal of 100 Win 2020 Victory Fund sustainers.
P.S. Dr. Bill Honigman and guest speakers will address your concerns and answer your questions about the Novel Coronavirus pandemic tomorrow, Wednesday March 25th. Click Here to contact Mike Fox to RSVP and get call-in information.
Also please pitch in whatever you can afford each month to help us elect powerful progressives to Congress.
