Bolstered by two Trump-appointed right-wing extremist Justices, the U.S. Supreme Court rubber-stamped Trump’s demand to divert funds appropriated for national defense to build his useless, wasteful, racist border wall! Trump’s racist attacks encouraging violence against members of Congress, his hateful rants against immigrants and people of color, his reckless threats of nuclear and conventional attacks, and his erratic, irrational behavior all raise concerns about his fitness for office.
Enough is enough! Trump keeps abusing his presidential power to improperly enrich himself and his family, impede investigations into his alleged wrongdoing, and violate civil and human rights. PDA needs your help to push for definitive investigations. Under our system of government, the Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is charged with holding hearings about Trump’s wrongdoing. The Student Debt Crisis looms as a dark cloud over our economy. PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky reports, “Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ilhan Omar introduced legislation to cancel all outstanding student debt; their bills compliment parallel legislation that would make all public state and community colleges tuition free.”

In three crucial ways, Trump has made the COVID-19 crisis much worse. Before this coronavirus emerged, he severely downgraded the ability of our government to respond to a pandemic. Once the virus did start to spread, he ignored repeated intelligence and wasted two crucial months when early, decisive action could have made a big difference. Then, once he finally acknowledged the seriousness of the pandemic in mid-March, he has provided chaotic and inconsistent leadership, more interested in playing politics and blaming others than uniting the country to fight the disease. It’s time to hold Donald Trump accountable for the degree of destruction that has been visited on America — the great toll of illness and death, the cratering of the economy and the wholesale disruption of everyday life.
