Tell Congress Not to Cave In to Trump’s
Childish Demands for a Wasteful Wall
Donald Trump has demonstrated constant disregard for the needs of others. Using the false, fabricated non-crisis at the border as a pretext, he’s kept our Federal closed for weeks. We’ve seen shutdowns before, sometimes over legitimate principles, sometimes as political stunts. In our long history, we have never seen a shutdown this long before. It’s long beyond time to end this charade. Tell Congress to reopen our government without a wall
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was founded in 2004 to achieve progress on key priorities, among them clean, fair, open and transparent elections. The November election in Georgia was not anything like that. It was a travesty. Voter roll purges. False information. Intimidation. Suppression. By all accounts, Brian Kemp used every dirty trick in the book to steal the gubernatorial election in Georgia. Sign the petition: tell the Justice Department to immediately investigate the reports of election fraud in Georgia.

To Reopen Our Federal Government With No Racist Wall
While most news stories fixate on the political drama, real suffering increases with little attention. Donna Smith—PDA’s National Advisory Board Chair and former Executive Director—wrote passionately about the human costs of poverty and deprivation. We see this increase as Trump’s temper tantrum inflicts harm on our sisters and brothers who are civil servants—federal employees and contractors—as well as all of us who rely on their day-to-day work. You can read her articleShutdown Offers Taste of Suffering the Poor and Vulnerable Know Too Well.
Also, please help us build support for a #GreenNewDeal, to gain cosponsors for the OFF Fossil Fuels Act, and help the Medicare for All Caucus grow. Please click on these links to make your voice heard!
Speaking of getting heard, PDA’s Executive Director Alan Minsky joined Cenk Uyger and The Young Turks for an inspiring, informative interview just over a week ago. You can watch it here. You can subscribe to here: TYT Activist Subscription for $10.00 or TYT Insider Subscription for $4.99.
Reminder: sign up to help host a Medicare for All (MFA) Barnstorming Tour event, working with National Nurses United and our other allies organizing events to help us achieve Medicare For All. You’ll be an important part of a massive national week of action February 9th-13th!
The new and improved Medicare for All Act will be released soon. Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to join the Medicare for All Caucus. Remember to share this action alert on social media and with your friends (Note: please remain patient if the action alert system is still connecting you with a recently defeated or retired Senator or Representative. Updates are in progress.)
With your help, PDA will continue building capacity, working to bring together and mobilize allied organizations and activists like you to accomplish great things. Your monthly donation of $100, $27, $10, or $5 gives us the resources we need to sustain the struggle for peace, healthcare as a human right, the climate, clean and fair elections, social and economic justice, ending corporate rule, and so much more.
We don’t get a dime from corporations. We rely exclusively on support from activists like you. To build on our midterm successes, we need your help now! Please sign up now to make automatic monthly sustaining gifts or a generous one-time gift now. If you can give $5 per month, that’s great! $10? Wonderful! $27? Spectacular! Whatever you can spare will help keep us working for you. Thanks so much for anything you can do right now to help us reach our goal of 100 new monthly sustainers this month.
Thank you so much for supporting PDA and our shared efforts for progress! We appreciate you more than words can say.
In solidarity,
Mike Hersh for Alan, Mike F., Janis, Deb, Dan, Dr. Bill, Kim, Bryan, and Shayna—your PDA National Team
