In solidarity, Dr. Bill Honigman for Alan, Mike H., Dan, Janis, Deb, Kimberly, Bryan, and Mike F., —your PDA national team.
Tell Congress: We Need Medicare For All!
On this #MedicareForAll (#MFA) Monday, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) wants you to know the answer to the challenge “How are we gonna pay for Medicare for All?”
The answer is simple: MFA saves money—lots of money. Healthcare economists conservatively estimate savings with a #SinglePayer system of between two to five hundred billion dollars per year.
So, rather than asking us how we can afford MFA, they should be asking us how will we be spending all the money that we’ll save with MFA.
On this MFA Monday, we at PDA ask you to join us in telling your members of Congress to cosponsor the National Medicare for All Act #HR1384 (House) and #S1129 (Senate).

On tomorrow’s webinar, we’ll hear from heroes in our movement and plan for the upcoming Medicare for All Week of Action. We’re sharing the information below from our allies at Public Citizen:
We’ll hear from two incredible health care heroes in our movement. RSVP now to get the details of how to join tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
After being diagnosed with uterine cancer, Donna Smith faced such high out-of-pocket costs, despite her insurance, that she was forced into medical bankruptcy and had to sell her home in South Dakota and move into her daughter’s storage unit.
You may remember Donna’s story if you saw Michael Moore’s SICKO back in 2007.
Rebecca Wood has been fighting with insurance companies since her daughter Charlie was born premature.
Holding Charlie in her lap in front of the House Ways & Means Committee hearing in June, Rebecca’s testimony outshone the attempts of Republican members in the committee to discredit Medicare for All as a necessary and achievable goal for our country.
Both Donna and Rebecca are now at the forefront of our Medicare for All movement, transforming their own tragic experiences with our broken health care system into powerful organizing and advocacy.
We are honored that they both will join us on our webinar, this Tuesday, October 1 to help us prepare for our upcoming Medicare for All Resolutions Week of Action.
RSVP now to get the details of how to join on Tuesday, October 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
We’ll also hear from U.S. Representative Jayapal’s lead staffer on Medicare for All, who will share how our Week of Action to win city and county council resolutions fits into the overall strategy to build support for the Medicare for All in Congress.
And local leaders from around the country will share all the tools you’ll need to get engaged in the upcoming Week of Action.
Our movement has exploded in just a few months, with 185 local resolutions efforts underway in large and small cities all across the country.
We’ll catapult these efforts forward during the Week of Action, which will feature a Virtual Town Hall with U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and other powerful champions.
Join the webinar on Tuesday to get inspired by heroes like Donna and Rebecca and learn how easy and fun it will be to get involved in the Week of Action.
Onward,
Melinda and Brittany, Medicare for All Resolutions
