Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) asserts that Healthcare is a Human Right. That’s why we worked to hold off the latest Republican scheme to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and replace it with Trump Care (aka Graham-Cassidy). It was nothing but a huge tax cut for the rich and a huge health cut for the rest of us. That’s why we’re relieved that we prevailed yet again, but we’re not even close to satisfied.

As long as for-profit health insurance companies and profiteering Big Pharma dominate our lives and prey on Americans, we will never have the healthcare we deserve—the healthcare care we are already paying for. Please click here to tell both of your Senators to join Sen. In the decades since Dr. King made that statement in 1966, our situation has gone from bad to critical. It doesn’t have to be this way. PDA—like our Advisory Board Member Rep. PDA worked to persuade Bernie Sanders to run for President as a Democrat. We knew he’d advocate for the policies we need, because he’d made statements like: “Other industrialized nations are making the morally principled and financially responsible decision to provide universal health care to all of their people—and they do so while saving money by keeping people healthier. Healthcare is a basic human right, codified in international treaties and declarations that the United States signed several decades ago. It is a moral outrage for a country as wealthy as ours to leave 50 million people with no reliable access to health care and tens of millions more with inadequate and/or overly expensive coverage. If you agree, please donate generously to help us gain support for single payer.

Despite spending nearly twice as much per capita as other developed nations on health care, millions of us remain vulnerable without any or adequate access to care, and facing bankruptcy should we develop a serious condition. For-profit U.S. insurance wastes approximately one-third of all the funds spent, and big pharmaceutical firms overcharge and exploit patients and taxpayers through monopolistic price fixing and other unethical practices.

A national Medicare-style system would free the U.S., employers, and individuals from the crushing burdens of overpriced health insurance and medications, while dramatically improving health outcomes.​ If you agree with Rev.
