Recent horrendous killings of unarmed Black men sparked protests that expose the painful, festering scars of unresolved atrocities past and present. Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) demands real solutions to systemic racism and racist violence, race-based economic and healthcare inequality, environmental racism. All these outrages and similar injustices are healthcare issues.

Every day, we endure the fallout from Trump and his regime’s poor preparation for the pandemic, their inability to bring people together, and their erratic / hot-headed responses to nearly every situation.

Against the backdrop of Trump’s recklessness and failure, a new wave of widespread frustration about deadly, racist violence is arising. Of course Trump is only fanning the flames of righteous anger. Join with PDA acting to save lives and protect our health and jobs:

We need immediate, specific, common sense measures that protect lives, our economy, and our society during the COVID-19 emergency and beyond.

The accumulation of crises threaten to tear our society apart. We have no time to waste. This year, hurricane season is predicted to be twice as dangerous than usual, with as many as nineteen named storms and up to six major hurricanes.

A tropical storm—the first one of the 2020 hurricane season—made landfall today, its destructiveness multiplied by climate change. Any plans for emergency response to climate-magnified life-threatening storms are complicated by the lack of protective equipment, severely overburdened healthcare facilities, and the need to maintain safe social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Bernie Sanders said, “Our most vulnerable communities are hungry, desperate and under enormous emotional stress. The American people want action from Congress and they want it NOW.”

Progressives in Congress have offered solutions that value every person, and recognize that not one single person deserves to be sacrificed or abandoned during this pandemic or afterward. Right wing/corporatist policies that do not value every human being and their rights fall far short of acceptable.

Considering the multiplying impending threats to lives, the need for decisive, enlightened leadership grows ever more essential. Inaction by elected officials is intolerable and indefensible. Even so, Republicans led by Trump and Sen. McConnell are obstructing needed emergency response policies and planning.

As Bernie Sanders explained, “Let’s be clear. We are in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. More than 100,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus, 40 million Americans have lost their jobs, millions have lost their health insurance and people across the country face hunger and the fear of being evicted from their homes.”

He added, “Given the enormity of this crisis, it is incomprehensible for Senator McConnell to tell us that he sees no urgency in passing another emergency relief bill and that he wants to wait another month before taking action.”

Rep. Jayapal said, “Our broken health care system is failing to protect millions of Americans from the coronavirus pandemic. Now more than ever, we need to take bold action to prevent more Americans from getting sick or dying.”

She added. “Everyone in America should have guaranteed access to health care, especially during [this] national emergency.”

PDA has been mobilizing for Medicare For All (MFA) since our founding in 2004. MFA is overwhelmingly popular. Recent polling shows 88% of Democrats support it.

We’re concerned that unless the Democratic platform includes MFA, many voters may not be motivated enough to work for victory up and down the ballot. Sign the petition to put Medicare For All in the platform.

RSVP to Mike Fox to join our Healthcare Emergency Virtual Town Hall / Webinar Sunday June 14th. We’re using new Zoom log-ins, so make sure to RSVP. Watch previous town halls.

Greedy insurance and big pharma companies have exploited us for decades by perpetuating the profit-driven health insurance and pharmaceutical model, with their inherent waste, fraud, and abuse.Help us end healthcare injustice!

The current profits over patients system was an outrageous injustice even before the pandemic. Now, this situation is unconscionable. If you agree, please pitch in your time and money now to empower our movement.

We must step up our pressure and do all we can to compel Congress and the Administration to adopt fair and appropriate policies that reflect science, common sense, and human decency.

Protect healthcare professionals. Nurses, doctors, and other care-givers are getting sick and dying. This is because of the continued refusal of our elected officials to respond courageously or effectively. Click Here to get info. and instructions from Mike Fox.

PDA invites you to join us for a Healthcare Emergency online town hall / webinar Sunday, June 14th, 4-5pm ET, 1-2pm PT. Dr. Bill Honigman and guest speakers will address your concerns and answer your questions about the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Please contact Mike Fox to RSVP to join Sunday’s Emergency Healthcare Webinar. You must RSVP. The access codes, phone numbers, etc. have changed.

Can’t make the town hall but still want to help our healthcare campaigns? Contact us and we’ll keep you as busy as you’d like to be.

Can’t volunteer? Then pitch in what you can to help finance our ongoing campaign for Medicare For All and other health policies we need to effectively respond to the pandemic, to promote an equitable economic recovery, and to upgrade our healthcare system.

All studies show Medicare For All (MFA) would save 10,000s of lives every single year—even before the pandemic. Now? The numbers of preventable deaths is imponderable.

Questions about “How will we pay for it?” make no sense, because MFA will actually save 100s of $billions each year as contrasted with the current wasteful, fraud-ridden system.

We will realize these savings by cleaning up expensive abuses and eliminating jacked-up charges that expose us to preventable death and bankruptcy merely to generate obscene profits for a few corporations.

Medicare For All is a vital component of the comprehensive Green New Deal agenda. To ensure our immediate and long-term survival, tell Congress we need the Green New Deal, policies that will create millions of new highly-paid sustainable jobs, (re)build critically-needed infrastructure, eliminate household debt, and enhance our social safety net.

PDA continues working within powerful, expanding coalitions to demand the policies we need to survive through the COVID-19 Pandemic and beyond.

Together, we will make the insiders listen to our voices and deliver what we demand, but only if we all act decisively like never before.

So far, Congressional response to the COVID-19 has been woefully inadequate. Powerful, influential special interests cash in on human misery while people are suffering and dying.

We need an empowered, progressive mass movement to demand the policies and government responses needed to save lives and rebuild our shattered economy. We need your active support to get there.

P.S.: Please remember to RSVP to Mike Fox to join our Healthcare Emergency Virtual Town Hall / Webinar Sunday 6/14 from 4-5pm ET, 1-2pm PT. Mike will provide all the call-in information.

Join PDA investing to enact Medicare For All and science-based, effective, emergency COVID-19 response policies.
