Not If You Speak Out Now

Tell Congress To Demand Diplomacy

As international tensions increase to a fever pitch, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) demands diplomacy, not an impulsive military strike against Syria. Russia is warning of dangerous escalation if the U.S. and allies attack. Please use this quick and simple action tool to contact Congress and then share it widely.

Representative Tulsi Gabbard has some important advice for U.S. and allied policy-makers. She Tweeted:

The people of Syria want peace more than anything in the world. Dropping bombs on Syria will not bring their war-torn country any closer to peace. It will escalate and prolong the war, resulting in more senseless death, destruction, suffering, and refugees.

By launching a U.S. military attack against Syria, terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, ISIS, Jaysh al-Islam, etc, will be reinvigorated & resurrected in their quest to topple the government & establish a caliphate. This creates a greater threat to America & hell for the Syrian people.

Tell Congress To Halt The Rush To War

We agree with Rep. Gabbard and many others including the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) urging that—instead of war—the Congress and the Trump Administration should do the following:

  1. The U.S. should fully support the ongoing investigation of the chemical weapon attacks by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and work with the international community to bring the perpetrators to justice.
  2. Congress should take back its constitutional authority to decide if, when, and for how long the U.S. goes to war. Congress should demand that the Administration seek an Authorization for the Use of Military Force before pursuing any military action. We urge members of Congress to vote against any further military action in Syria.
  3. The Trump Administration should immediately meet with Russia, Iran, Turkey, and the Gulf States to revive international negotiations that will lead to a diplomatic solution.
  4. The U.S. should promptly increase resettlement of Syrian refugees in the U.S. and send more humanitarian aid to the region. Years of direct U.S. military intervention, support of extremist armed groups, and weapons shipments to anti-government rebels in Syria have only added fuel to the fire and put Syrian civilians in greater danger.

Please use this quick and simple action alert to contact Congress. Take a moment to share the alert with all your contacts via email and social media. Then, please help us continue our work for peace with a contribution of any size.
