Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was founded in 2004 to make progress on critical issues including stopping climate change. We work closely with our sister organization People Demanding Action and our allies like Food and Water Watch organizing support for the best practices to stop climate change, such as Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s Off Fossil Fuels (OFF) Act. We set up an easy-to-use tool to help you contact your own Representative and ask her or him to cosponsor the OFF Act. Over the past few years there has been a growing faction within the climate movement advocating for putting a price on carbon to reduce emissions. Not only do these policies not work in the real world, but they can have devastating consequences for fossil fuel-impacted communities.

For this reason, we are pleased to announce the third webinar in our climate and energy series entitled The Price is Wrong: Why Carbon Pricing Won’t Solve the Climate Crisis.

Food & Water Action will be joined by speakers from Friends of the Earth, the Indigenous Environmental Network, and People Demanding Action to offer a critique of carbon pricing models like cap-and-trade and a carbon-tax.

We will make the case for why we need to oppose efforts to put a price on carbon as a climate solution and instead advocate for a rapid, just, and equitable transition to 100% clean renewable energy, such as with the OFF Act.
