I am kind of surprised that you have nothing on your website about campaign finance reform. I see you support the Equal Rights Amendment, but how about an amendment to overturn Buckley v. Valeo, the Supreme Court decision in 1976 that overturned some of the best provisions of the federal election campaign finance laws of 1971 and 1974 and ruled that money was a form of speech and therefore deserves the same protection as speech. Since that time there have been about 10 Supreme Court rulings based upon the Buckley v. Valeo precedent that have taken the teeth out of the Federal Election Commission ability to limit donations from the elite; limited the ability of states to provide for fair elections; weakened the definition of bribery; eliminated the ability of the voters to know where the money comes from; and have moved our nation closer to an oligarchy than a democracy. How can progressives compete against oligarchy if there are no laws to limit the laundering money through Super PACs and 501C4 organizations? If we really want free speech in this country there should be an equal playing field in which candidates don’t have to depend on large donors to fund their campaigns. I understand why the press does not cover this issue. Why are you neglecting it?
