The progressive movement has grown in leaps and bounds over the past decade. Our policy proposals are ever more popular with the general public.  

If we actually had a level playing field in American democracy (minus all perverting influences such as the influence of big money and corporate media), we have good reason to believe that American public policy would resemble Bernie Sanders’ platform. 

That gives us even more reason to defend, and then work to strengthen American democracy—but, of course, we defend democracy first and foremost as a matter of principle, as the bedrock upon which a society of equal citizens is built.

American democracy is in the throes of the most serious crisis in our lifetimes. Now is the time that we must join in solidarity and take action to defend the core principles of a democratic society.
