At a moment when we’re being told we can do nothing to stop indiscriminate slaughter, a Barbara Lee victory says otherwise: that war is over if you want it. Similarly, all of the supposedly unchangeable, endemic economic and social crises that make life in America so brutish and unjust for the vast majority, in fact have policy solutions right there in Lee’s platform—often modeled after successful programs from other countries.

Just like with Bernie in 2016, a victory by Barbara Lee will transport us from a time of despair and hopelessness to one of possibility and promise. After all, Barbara Lee’s primary is the first major race for progressives in 2024, a top-two finish by Lee will advance her to November’s general election. Such an exciting comeback victory by Lee will instantly transform the dominant narrative of the 2024 election cycle from one in which progressives were virtually absent—and the death pallor of Biden vs Trump II reflects the morbid condition of America’s politics—to one in which faith in democracy is restored (at least in California), the progressive agenda continues to gain momentum, and public support for peace in Gaza cannot be denied.
