Sunday Town Hall 2025.03.30: Derek Marshall’s Local Democracy Project & Hands Off, A National Day of Action on April 5th

Next Saturday, April 5, PDA is a sponsoring partner of the Hands Off! National Day of Action. There are already over 700 Hands Off! demonstrations planned across the country, with at least one demonstration in every state. Taken collectively, next Saturday promises to be by far the largest anti-Trump, pro-democracy mobilization during Trump 2.0.
If you’re wondering what’s meant by Hands Off!, here’s the official explanation:
Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. They’re taking everything they can get their hands on, and daring the world to stop them. On Saturday, April 5th, we’re taking to the streets nationwide to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!
That’s certainly a message that fits the moment and one that PDA can get behind!
We’ll share all the relevant information about the April 5 demonstrations on Sunday’s Town Hall, and we’ll also have a general discussion about the anti-Trump Resistance movement and how PDA might become more active in the Resistance.
Then, we’ll be joined by Derek Marshall to learn about his new organization, the Local Democracy Project. Derek, of course, is a legendary organizer, former campaign staffer for Bernie Sanders, and a two-time PDA-endorsed candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives.
The ideas that animate the Local Democracy Project are very much in line with PDA’s mission, and I foresee a strong partnership going forward. Sunday’s conversation with Derek will be fascinating.

I have registered for this zoom call twice, but have not received a confirmation email or any way to join.
Why do Ds allow Rs to control the language – “death panels”, “lock her up”, “libs”, ad Infinitum? Now “woke”. Personally, I am proud to be woke supporting all Americans and our way of life (which doesn’t have to be perfect). Let’s add to the Hands Off campaign with a strong local and national message, “proud to be woke”!
