This Sunday: Angelica Duenas, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and Ahmed Mostafa
Sunday. 4pm ET/1pm PT, a great PDA Town Hall with four progressives running for the U.S. House. Featured guest: Angelica Duenas, PDA-endorsed candidate in CA-29. Squad members Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman will make a cameo, and Ahmed Mostafa, running for open seat in CA-16, will introduce himself. RSVP Now!
The 2024 primary season is upon us. This week’s PDA Town Hall will highlight how great the stakes are for progressives, as we will hear from four candidates in highly competitive primaries.
First, Angelica Duenas will join us, having just received PDA’s endorsement for the third consecutive election cycle. And, in case you don’t know, Angelica’s first two campaigns produced a spectacular result. Incumbent Tony Cardenas, a moderate Democrat and a fixture of the Party establishment, retired rather than face Angelica again. A community-based grassroots candidate, Angelica made the runoff in both 2020 and 2022, and topped 40% in both general elections.
Of course, the Party establishment has put forward another establishment candidate this year to oppose Angelica, who is a no-holds-barred left progressive and champion for her overwhelmingly working-class district. But without the advantages of incumbency or Cardenas’ strong name recognition, the establishment might not be able to defeat Duenas this time—and a true advocate for the people of the 29th will represent in Congress.
Speaking of which, we’ll also hear from Reps. Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman on Sunday. Two Squad members, who are among the most inspiring politicians of our time, and who are both facing difficult races in the primaries. Millions-upon-millions of reactionary dollars are being spent to defeat Cori and Jamaal and weaken the Squad. The only known antidote is organizing. So that’s what we’re going to do every Sunday. Join us. RSVP Now!
