The Democratic Presidential Debates Must Address Poverty

We Need To Address Poverty In The Debates

Poverty is an outrageous injustice. Homelessness and hunger must not continue.

Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) chose economic and social justice as one of our top priorities at our launch fifteen years ago. We’ve worked with top activists ever since to address poverty. Please support this effort by signing a petition calling on the DNC and cable news networks to prioritize questions on the crisis of poverty, housing, and hunger.

After two rounds of “debate” in the Democratic primary race, it’s way past time to have a discussion about the economic elephant in the room, and one of the most pressing issues of our times: the epidemic levels of poverty in the United States.

Please join us in calling on the Democratic National Committee and the News Networkshosting televised Democratic Party primary debates to prioritize questions on the crisis of poverty, housing, and hunger in the United States; and to ensure that the voices and concerns of the poorest Americans are being heard at this critically important moment for our democracy.

PDA helps you make a huge difference with Educate Congress letter drops, action alerts, and coalition efforts with dozens of progressive organizations. Email Mike Fox to get active with our coalition August recess actions! Can’t help organize an event? It’s terrifying to be low income in this country. All the safety net has been so damaged through cuts and rule changes to social programs.

  2. Abigail Brickler

Half of our country is poor or low income. More than half live paycheck to paycheck. It’s time to have a real discussion about poverty in this country.
