Help Support PDA’s Congressional Liaison Program: Lobbying of the People, by the People, for the People and the Planet

This past week, an amazing expose was released by the UK television network Channel 4, in which a top ExxonMobile lobbyist explained in great detail how the fossil fuel industry secures the support of Congress to defeat any legislation that cuts into its profits – effectively destroying the US government’s capacity to address the climate emergency.

Perhaps what was most depressing about the expose was the lobbyist’s absolute confidence that ExxonMobile would prevail; including in its ability to block measures that address the climate emergency in the current infrastructure packages.

Why is ExxonMobile so confident?

Because no countervailing force exists that can match the power, access, influence, and money of the fossil fuel industry. Climate organizations do their best, but the evidence is clear: progressive NGOs can’t get it done.

There’s only one force in American society capable of taking on and defeating entrenched corporate power, the people themselves – organized and mobilized.

Understanding this, PDA is building the most extensive progressive lobbying program to date:  the PDA Congressional Liaison program, in which actual constituents petition their elected officials and hold them accountable.

Together, we can defeat ExxonMobile and move forward to address the existential crisis of climate change. Support PDA’s citizen lobbying by joining the Congressional Liaison team in your district and/or by contributing all you can here.

Thanks so much for anything you can do.
