Support PDA’s Efforts to Hold the Trump Regime Accountable

Trump seems emboldened by the inexplicably disappointing Mueller findings. Just yesterday, the Administration announced a new and diabolical strategy in their war on healthcare. They’ve reversed their previous stance and now support an attack against the constitutionality of “Obamacare.” As USA Today reported:

The Trump administration told a federal court late Monday that it would ask judges to toss out the entire Affordable Care Act, a decision that cast further uncertainty over the future of a federal law that has extended health insurance to millions of Americans.

Justice Department attorneys said in a letter filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans that a lower court’s ruling the health law is unconstitutional  “should be affirmed” and that the “United States is not urging that any portion of the district court’s judgement be reversed.”

A coalition of Republican-led states brought a lawsuit, Texas v United States, arguing the entire health law should be tossed out.

If this assault is successful in the courts, it would throw millions of Americans off their healthcare, including those of us who rely on Medicaid expansion. It could possibly invalidate other current programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Childrens’ Health Insurance Program. That makes our advocacy for the Medicare For All Act—that PDA has supported since our founding in 2004–all the more imperative! Tell Your Representative to Cosponsor the Medicare For All Act!
