Help Progressive Democrats Take The Congress!
Become a Win 2018 Sustainer—Give Each Month

Yesterday, as expected, our endorsed candidate Rep. Jamie Raskin won the primary to keep his seat in Congress representing Maryland’s 8th District. He is overwhelmingly popular, and we expect he will win in November. In a stunningly unexpected outcome, Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th district primary—following the example of Bernie Sanders by running as a Democrat.

These are two huge victories that could set the stage for more to follow if we all pitch in to make it happen. To ensure a Blue Wave, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) needs your generous monthly sustaining contribution or one-time gift. We appreciate and need every dollar of support.

Give Generously To Help Build
A More Progressive Congress

As CNN reports, “Ocasio-Cortez ran to Crowley’s left. She was an unapologetic Democratic Socialist who wants to eliminate Immigration and Customs Enforcement and wants Medicare for all. Crowley had a more liberal record than most of his Democratic colleagues. It wasn’t enough. The ability for [Bernie] Sanders to get over 40% of the Democratic primary vote in 2016 was at minimum a sign that a high percentage of voters was willing to vote for a candidate on the leftward edge of the American political spectrum.” (What Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s victory says about the Democratic Party and 2020, Analysis by Harry Enten, CNN, June 27, 2018).

That confirms what PDA has been saying all along. We’ve been working for a more progressive Congress since 2004, and we’ve learned there are many shades of blue. It is not enough just to elect any Democrats. Actions of past Democratic majorities teach us that conservative and corporate Democrats work more closely with Republicans for narrow elite special interests—not in the interests of most Americans.

We need to elect strong progressive candidates who will not back down, will not give up, and will not be silent in the face of relentless attacks on the most vulnerable members of society. Please sign up for automatic monthly contributions of whatever amount you can afford to help us elect strong progressives in the primaries.

We have a lot of work to do. Help us help progressive candidates get on the November ballot. Let’s paint the Congress bench a vibrant shade of true progressive blue. Your monthly gift of $20.18, $12, $6, or whatever you can spare helps PDA support progressive candidates who will champion social, economic, and environmental justice. Your steady support helps us build capacity, budget and plan ahead. We need readynreserves to respond quickly to fast-moving developments in campaigns and in the Congress.

To help amplify our message, please visit the PDA Store where you can find Bernie gear, Rapid Response Kits, and plenty of issue-oriented buttons and bumper stickers.

Together, we have made a difference, and with your support we will continue to fight for progressive values and champions who are not bought and paid for by billionaires, Big Oil, Big Pharma, or the NRA. Help PDA by making automatic monthly sustaining gifts of $20.18, $12, $6, or other amount.

In solidarity,

Debra Schrishuhn and Mike Hersh for Mike F., Donna, Dr. Bill, Janis, Dan, Judy, Kimberly, and Bryan—your PDA National team
