Support Striking Workers At Wabtec Plant.

Mar 5, 2019

In solidarity,  Mike Fox for Alan, Dr. Bill, Dan, Deb, Kimberly, Bryan, Janis, Mike H. and Shayna — your PDA National Team

Stand In Solidarity With Union Brothers And Sisters!

As you may have seen referenced at the Bernie Sanders rally in Brooklyn on Sat.  members of UE Locals 506 and 618 from Erie, PA, together with members of UE Local 610 who work at Wabtec in Wilmerding, PA are striking for family-supporting jobs!

Members of 506 and 618 are on strike because Wabtec imposed new working conditions after purchasing the plant from GE, including mandatory overtime, wage cuts of up to 38% for newly hired and recalled workers, and using temps for up to 20 percent of the work.

You can show support for the workers 4 ways:

1) From across the country you can participate in a call-in campaign we’re developing.  If you’re willing to make a single phone call (or more) let us know now and we’ll get you more details.

2) From across the country you can also participate in a solidarity funding program for the strikers who will no doubt start feeling the pinch if this isn’t over soon.  Help us at minimum cover some coffee and doughnuts for the crew!

3) If you want to show solidarity on the ground, locally:

Support The Striking Workers Rally
Wed. March 6
3-4pm
Corner of Station Ave. and Westinghouse Ave.
Wilmerding, PA 15148
Please reply to this email to RSVP.  And if you’re traveling in for the event, let us know.

4) Or if you want to run a solidarity rally where you are, let us know.

For more on this strike, see the EU page, the EU Press Page, and print this solidarity signage.

Thanks so much for anything you can do.
