Sunday Town Hall with Susheela Jayapal, PDA-Endorsed Candidate for Congress (OR-3) RSVP Now!

May 3, 2024 | PDA News

PDA proudly endorses Susheela Jayapal for Congress In Oregon’s 3rd District.  Susheela is our featured guest on this Sunday’s PDA National Town Hall at 4pm ET/1pm PT. Learn why she will be a truly exceptional progressive Congresswoman. RSVP now!

It was a sad day at PDA when we learned that Rep. Earl Blumenauer was retiring from Congress, after a distinguished 28 years representing Oregon’s 3rd District that includes much of Metro Portland.  A close ally of PDA, Rep. Blumenauer worked closely with us in drafting, and introducing, one of the most important pieces of legislation in recent years, The Climate Emergency Act. We honor Rep. Blumenauer and his commitment to progressive principles and the environment.

The good news is that a spectacular progressive is running to fill the seat, Susheela Jayapal, who is our featured guest on this week’s PDA Town Hall, Sunday at 4pm ET/1pm PT. Susheela has a great chance at winning the primary that concludes on May 21st, but the race is close. So, we’ll also be letting everyone know how they ensure a victory for Susheela, and a victory for the entire progressive movement!

In case you’re wondering, yes, Susheela is related to Pramila Jayapal, the Head of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (and also one of PDA’s closest allies in Congress). Susheela is Pramila’s older sister, but have no doubts, she is her own person.

Indeed, when you hear Susheela, prepare to be amazed. She exudes complete confidence in her politics, in our politics—and can calmly explain why each policy she supports is the right one for the people of Greater Portland, the country, and the world. If more progressives possessed Susheela’s political skill set, we’d be running the country.

You won’t want to miss Susheela Jayapal at Sunday’s Town Hall. RSVP now!

There is one piece of bad news related to this: there are only two Jayapal sisters, so we can’t elect more to Congress after Susheela.

Also on the Town Hall, PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky and YPDA Steering Committee Member William Walter will report on this weekend’s Wisconsin Grassroots Network Festival, that always highlights innovative progressive ideas and strategies.

See you Sunday at 4pm ET/1pm PT. Remember to RSVP!

We look forward to seeing you.

In solidarity,

Alan Minsky for The PDA National Team
