Tell Your Senators To Act Now To End Gun Violence

Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) demands that Congress act now to address mass shootings and other gun violence.

Today, we’re rocked by yet another school shooting. Another in an unspeakably long line of senseless tragedies, unheard of in other nations.

We understand that—while there may not be a single, simple solution to gun violence—there are effective steps we must take. One such measure is the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, passed by the House of Representatives, but languishing in the Senate.

As with so many other challenges, the facts are clear even as political solutions remain elusive. The American people are not to blame.

Decades of public opinion polling confirms that between 60% and 75% of us support common sense gun safety measures.

Demand A Senate Vote On Common Sense Gun Safety

Support PDA’s Organizing for Common Sense Gun Safety

We the People demand action to address the scourge of mass shootings and other gun violence. Most Republicans, and even most gun owners—including most National Rifle Association (NRA) members—support gun safety measures.

These include: universal background checks, banning assault weapons, closing loopholes that let dangerous people evade gun safety laws, and similar steps.

The obstacles to progress on gun safety are obvious: the Republican Party and special interest groups like the NRA who—as noted—ignore the wishes of their own members and base.

As Speaker Nancy Pelosi made clear: “Leader Mitch McConnell, describing himself as the ‘grim reaper,’ has been an obstacle to taking any action,” she wrote in a letter to Trump.

Most Americans support reasonable gun safety measures, and do so by large majorities. Only a minority of obstructionists oppose the policies we need.

Unfortunately, huge campaign contributions and other massive funding (largely from ammunition and gun manufacturers) amplify intransigent and extremist propaganda.

Join us demanding that the Senate act now! The House has already passed legislation to address the suffering and fear that plague America, and no other nation on Earth.

Click Here to tell both of your Senators to demand an up or down vote on the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019.

Help PDA flip the Senate and elect progressive Democrats not beholden to the NRA. Help us pressure Senators to enact common sense laws to curtail gun violence.

We need your sustained support—via monthly automatic gifts—to elect a more progressive Congress.

Donate to PDA to sustain our efforts. Support Common Sense Gun Safety. Demand action now, not after yet another school, restaurant, club, church, mosque, synagogue, or shopping mall is stained with the blood of innocents. If not now, WHEN?

We need you to help PDA stand up against gun violence now!
