Robert Scheer is an American journalist, author, and political activist best known for his influential reporting and commentary since the 1960s. He co-founded the New Left journal Root and Branch and rose to prominence as an editor and correspondent for Ramparts magazine, where he covered global conflicts and interviewed figures such as Fidel Castro. A vocal critic of the Vietnam War, he also ran for office as an anti-war candidate. Scheer later became a longtime national correspondent and columnist for the Los Angeles Times, earning multiple Pulitzer Prize nominations, and went on to host public radio programs and found the independent news site ScheerPost. Throughout his career, he has combined journalism, teaching, and activism to challenge U.S. foreign policy and advocate for social justice.
Kai Newkirk is a progressive activist and organizer running for U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District, where he is challenging incumbent Greg Stanton in the Democratic primary. Known for his leadership in nonviolent direct action movements, Newkirk is running a grassroots, movement-driven campaign focused on democracy, human rights, and bold progressive reform.
See you Sunday!
