RSVP Now for this Sunday: Celebrating Daniel Ellsberg & Defusing the Nuclear Threat Plus Debrief of Tuesday’s Wins

Apr 7, 2023 | PDA News

This Sunday we Celebrate the Life and Career of Daniel Ellsberg by Continuing to Organize for Peace—and We Herald the Great Election Results from Across the Country, by Planning our Next Round of Victories: RSVP Now!

appy265.jpgAs many of you know about a month ago one of the greatest and most impactful peace activists in American history, Daniel Ellsberg, announced that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only three to six months to live. In his beautiful and courageous public letter, he wrote in reference to the anti-nuclear and peace movements: “I am happy to know that millions of people… have the wisdom, the dedication and the moral courage to carry on with these causes, and to work unceasingly for the survival of our planet and its creatures.”

We, at PDA, are most certainly among those millions of people!

On Sunday at 4pm ET/1pm PT we will be joined by Professor Christian Appy, a scholar of post-WWII American foreign policy, who is currently working on a book about Daniel Ellsberg based largely on his papers. The working title is Ellsberg’s Mutiny: War and Resistance in the Age of Vietnam, The Pentagon Papers, and Nuclear Terror.

Also, we will learn about the inaugural Daniel Ellsberg Week (April 24-30) series of events that PDA is co-sponsoring.  There’s no better way to honor the life of this great human being than by building a powerful national and international peace movement.

RSVP Now!

Also, we will celebrate the great progressive electoral victories of this past week, and organize to produce more glorious results in the spring and summer of 2023 and beyond.

Hope to see you Sunday!

In solidarity,

Alan Minsky for the PDA National Team

Thanks a million for the zoom gathering (we were only able to join after the first hour or so unfortunately), and Daniel Ellsberg’s perspective in particular!!!!
