Remembering 9/11/01
For Peace,
Mike Hersh for Alan, Mike F., Kimberly, Donna, Bryan, Deb, Dr. Bill, Janis, and Dan—your PDA National Team
Today We Pause, Reflect, and
Work to Build a Better World
On this date nineteen years ago, we came together as one nation. At Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), on this somber day of reflection, we call upon everyone to recapture that sense of nationwide unity. Unity based not on fear or “America First” ultra-nationalism, but nourished by a renewed, empowered movement for truth, racial healing, and transformation.

PDA fosters peace by working to end wars and occupations. Peace is more than the absence of war, however. Peace is painstakingly built and maintained upon a foundation of justice, equity, and affirmative compassion. We believe peace begins at home.
Join PDA supporting our Advisory Board member Rep. Barbara Lee’s H.Con.Res.100, “Urging the establishment of a United States Commission on Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation.” Click here to tell your Representative to cosponsor and work to pass the resolution.
Also, courageous Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Karen Bass (D-CA), and Barbara Lee (D-CA) cosponsored H.Res.988–a decisive first step to end police brutality. Join us demanding its passage.
TRUTH Week begins next Monday, September 14th and lasts through the 18th. Please join PDA participating in this mobilization for Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation.
As Rep. John Lewis wrote, shortly before he passed away:
When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war.
These words uplift, inform, and inspire us on this day of remembrance—and every day.
P.S. We need your help now. If you feel as we do, we hope you’ll help us mobilize support for peace and justice, home and abroad. Please sign up with our Phone Team. No time to volunteer? Please donate whatever you can afford now to help PDA promote peaceful policies.
