A New Generation of Progressive
Champions Join the House Majority

Last night, Progressive Democrats of America and the Democratic Party accomplished a most important goal by winning back the House of Representatives, ending the GOP’s monopoly on power in Washington, D.C. Thanks to your hard work and support, the new House majority will have a powerful progressive contingent.

Our hard-won victories mean the voices of average Americans will be heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill. Indeed, more PDA-backed candidates won yesterday than at any point in our fourteen-year history. We cannot thank you enough for all of your donations, your phone calls, your chapter organizing efforts—everything you did to help make that happen. Make no mistake: your efforts helped us bring home important progressive victories at the polls!

Here’s the most current list of our triumphant progressive champions (others are in too-close-to-call elections, and we hope to add to this list):

In the House we celebrate with incumbents: Tulsi Gabbard, Raul Grijalva, Barbara Lee, Pramila Jayapal, James McGovern, Marc Pocan, Jamie Raskin, Judy Chu, and Ruben Gallego all of whom won re-election by impressive, empowering margins. 

We welcome these exciting, inspiring victorious freshmen to Congress: Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Veronica Escobar, Deb Haaland, “Chuy” Garcia, Ayanna Pressley, and Mike Levin—with Harley Rouda leading as votes are tabulated.

In the Senate, our progressive champions Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren both resoundingly won re-election.

Going forward, PDA will continue working alongside our elected candidates. Together, we will persist: fighting the Trump Administration’s anti-democratic reactionary agenda, promoting a positive progressive vision, and organizing for even more progressive victories coast to coast. We know you’ll be with us each step of the way!
