Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and Bernie Sanders’ progressive policies resonated with voters all across small town America in 2016, and the promise of a people-powered political revolution is just as inspirational this year. There is no better proof of that than the success of J.D. Scholten, the PDA-Endorsed Progressive Democratic nominee running for Congress in Iowa’s 4th district.

J.D.’s motto is “Standing Tall for All,” and that means Medicare for All, Economic Opportunity For All, Quality Public Education for All, Sustainable Farming, and Protecting Our Planet. No wonder Senator Sanders dropped by Iowa’s 4th to lend his support to J.D. this week.

When talking about Iowa’s 4th, it’s necessary to mention incumbent right wing Rep. Steve King. As great as J.D. Scholten is, King is awful. He’s infamous for vile statements including relentlessly race-baiting President Obama and claiming “Al Qaeda would be dancing in the streets” if Obama were elected in 2008.

King keeps a Confederate Flag on his desk, re-tweets neo-nazis, and went out of his way to endorse a white nationalist extremist in a recent Canadian election. In short, King is an unabashed white supremacist whose fealty to the Koch Brothers puts him at odds with his constituents on issue after issue.

A victory by J.D. Scholten in Iowa’s 4th district would send a message of hope across the country; and J.D. is within range of pulling it off. Unlike his Koch-driven opponent, J.D. doesn’t accept money from corporate PACs; so, it’s up to us to support his campaign. Please dig deep and help us deliver a big win in the heartland!
