Ceasefire Write-in Campaign
PDA activists in Washington State are helping to organize a Ceasefire Write-in Campaign for the Washington State Democratic Presidential Primary. Ballots will arrive in voters’ mailboxes at the end of February and must be returned by March 12th. The campaign asks Democratic voters to write the word “Ceasefire” on their ballot, in the space provided for a write-in candidate, to protest President Biden’s unwillingness to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.
Biden and elected leadership have not heard our calls, rallies and demands for a ceasefire. Politicians listen to votes, and the people want a ceasefire. Opinions differ, but many folks voting “ceasefire” in the primary will be thinking of this as a one-off action, and hoping it pushes Biden to make the change we want to see. It’s possible that a change of heart may make him a stronger candidate in November.
