COVID19Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was honored to be a part of the massive collective effort last week to promote the rollout by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) of the new National #MedicareForAllAct (MFA) of 2021 now known as H.R.1976. With already over half of the Democratic delegation of the House as cosponsors at the time of its introduction, we see our task as still formidable but very doable to win this fight and get the bill through the necessary committees of jurisdiction, and to a floor vote victory in this term.

And that can’t come a moment too soon, as yet more victims of #COVID19 continue to die needlessly because of the waste, fraud, and abuse of profit-first commercial health insurance and Big Pharma profiteering, even in times of crisis such as these.

Right now healthcare is rationed to us by Big Insurance and Big Pharma instead of controlled and prioritized by We the People.

We at PDA, along with our many partners in the struggle for #HealthcareJustice, have long since recognized that #SinglePayer expanded and improved MFA will allocate needed resources to where they’re needed, when they’re needed, and will provide the reliability, portability, equity, and humanity so lacking in the healthcare that we currently have.

It’s long past time we made MFA happen, and we need everyone to join us in this fight.

Join us this and every Sunday throughout the COVID-19 crisis for our weekly national PDA Healthcare Emergency Town Hall online Sundays 4p ET / 1p PT.  This week, March 28, we will take a deep dive into our Congressional Liaison Program efforts to obtain more cosponsors for H.R.1976, with reports from our teams across the country on what has worked so far, what hasn’t worked, and some brilliant ideas as to what likely still needs to be tried.

And if you can’t join us for the town hall, sign up for the Congressional Liaison Program here, other volunteering here, and/or donate to help make it all happen here.

Thanks as always, and hope to see you Sunday!
