PDA Endorses Marquita Bradshaw for U.S. Senate, Tennessee

Sep 25, 2020

In solidarity,

Alan Minsky, Executive Director – Progressive Democrats of America

Help PDA elect true progressive champion

Marquita Bradshaw to the U.S. Senate

On August 6th, Marquita Bradshaw pulled off the biggest upset of the 2020 election cycle so far, winning the Tennessee Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate over the heavily favored DSCC-backed moderate James Mackler. Bradshaw was outspent literally 100-1 in the primary, and still routed Mackler and the rest of the field by 12%.

PDA is proud to announce our endorsement of Marquita Bradshaw in the general election to fill the seat held by retiring Republican Senator Lamar Alexander. Her opponent Bill Hagerty is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump.

Marquita Bradshaw, in contrast, is a no-holds barred progressive in the tradition of PDA. A lifelong environmentalist, Marquita supports Medicare For All and the Green New Deal; she’s pro-labor and advocates for a living wage and the rights of migrant workers; she wants to see Citizens United overturned, student debt relieved, and public colleges made tuition free. Marquita Bradshaw is a true champion of We the People.

Donate to ensure that PDA can help Marquita Bradshaw pull off another stunning upset this fall.

Marquita Bradshaw is a visionary leader for our times. Here are her powerful words upon hearing of the travesty of justice from Louisville on Wednesday:

Like so many others I am heartbroken by the injustice displayed in Kentucky today. Breonna Taylor was murdered in her own home by LMPD officers. I continue to pray for her families, friends, and all those affected by this senseless act.

What we are seeing is an outcry for long awaited justice and recognition from a system that continues to see us as less than. It is my life’s work to stand up to injustice in all forms. We must address the roots of systemic racism. No more hashtags. We want justice. We want equal rights and equal protection. We want change.

This is a tragic event, but I can’t remain outraged by the past. I must allow it to fuel my passion to shape the future. To this end, I again implore Congress to pass a federal ban on no knock warrants.

We will never stop saying her name.

Please help elect Marquita Bradshaw to the U.S. Senate. We need to hear her voice in that chamber.  Donate or volunteer now.
