PDA Endorses Bernie Sanders for President
In solidarity, Alan Minsky for Mike H., Shayna, Mike F., Janis, Deb, Kimberly, Bryan, Dan, and Dr. Bill—your PDA National Team
Bernie Sanders wins the official endorsement
of the Progressive Democrats of America with
a resounding 66% victory on the first ballot
On Sunday March 3rd, PDA sent an e-mail to all of its supporters around the country asking them to participate in a binding online poll to determine whether we would be endorsing a candidate in the race for the Democratic nomination for President in 2020. Over the next week, we followed up with more e-mails, plus announcements across our social media, asking people to vote before the deadline of midnight on Sunday night the 10th.
To win PDA’s endorsement, a candidate needed to win more than 60% of the votes (which is always PDA’s threshold for endorsements). Because there were so many candidates in this race, we had adjusted the rules such that if any candidate failed to receive more than 60% of the vote on the first ballot, there would be a run-off between the top two candidates.
However, no second round will be necessary as Senator Sanders won a resounding victory, with 66% support from all of the PDAers who responded.
Therefore, it’s official: PDA endorses Senator Bernie Sanders for President! Please give to support Bernie’s run for President.
Here are the final results of PDA’s presidential nomination poll:
Julian Castro—Less than 1%
John Hickenlooper—Less than 1%
Kirstin Gillibrand—Less than 1%
John Delaney—Less than 1%
In the coming days, weeks, and months PDA will be supporting Senator Sanders’ run for the White House in innumerable ways. Stay Tuned! The political revolution that PDA launched with Bernie back in 2014 continues!
