There is no doubt that this is a time of great peril for our constitutional democracy, for civil and human rights, and, yes, for all of humanity.

America’s powerful Chamber of Commerce-backed right wing has outmaneuvered liberals at seemingly every turn. Even as they’ve lost the popular vote in a string of national elections they have succeeded at achieving the most reactionary transformation of public policy in our lifetime.

Clearly something different must be done, and at PDA we have a strong conviction about what is necessary:

1. We need to have policies that inspire the people – such as Medicare for All, Civil and Human Rights for All, an unwavering commitment to the environment, and economic policies that benefit the people not the plutocrats;

2. We must have a backbone stronger than any opponents – no more rolling over, no more triangulations;

3. Clarity that we stand for non-violence and the achievement of, to borrow a phrase from the civil rights movement, “the beautiful community.”
