Tell Congress To Oppose Trump’s Wall!
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) works for comprehensive immigration reform, including a path to citizenship for undocumented residents. Basic human decency requires treating all human beings with dignity and respect. That is why we’re focused on the upcoming budget battle and taht is why we steadfastly oppose any funding for the racist, pointless, wasteful, environmentally destructive, and divisive border wall.

Our Immigration Situation is a Mess Join PDA and Our Allies Working to Fix It!
We have our work cut out for us. The current situation is unjust, unsustainable, and unjustifiable:
· DREAMers remain in limbo, unsure of their status and living in fear
· Resident non-citizens (like murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi) cannot count on protection from the Trump regime
· The Trump regime illegally blocks asylum seekers from seeking asylum and herds them into filthy camps
· Record numbers (some 14,000) of children remain in U.S. custody as months go by
· Government agents deploy toxic gas in Mexican territory, targeting helpless migrants—including women and children
· Trump squanders $210 million by sending 5,200 troops to the southern border
· Executive orders and departmental rules of questionable constitutionality further restrict legal access to citizenship (see P.S. below)
We reject all of these aspects of the Trumpian agenda to “Make America White Again.” Of you agree, tell Congress to oppose Trump’s Racist Wall!
Meanwhile, the federal government is about to run out of money because Congress did not pass a complete budget, but rather funded the government only until tomorrow, December 7. As that fiscal deadline looms, Trump has doubled down on demanding excessive funding for his useless and offensive border wall.
The Senate proposal would (mis)appropriate $1.6 billion for “border security,” and the administration is demanding at least $5 billion. Now, there is talk of another short-term continuing resolution to reconcile differences over the border wall funding.
Here are the numbers: the 2018 budget deficit is $779 billion, in great part due to the Trump-McConnell-Ryan corporate tax scam and increased weapons waste. Republican attempts to sabotage the ACA added billions to the deficit while reducing positive health outcomes for older and poorer Americans.
Trump’s economy is on track to reach a $1 trillion—Trillion with a T—deficit in 2019. The national debt is projected to top $22.5 trillion in 2019. Yet, Trump wants to waste $25-30 billion for a border wall that will not achieve border security, is offensive to thinking Americans and to our ally Mexico. Of course it would not be paid for by Mexico, as Trump promised and insisted, but would cost the taxpayers.
In solidarity,

P.S. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is considering a rule that would vastly expand the definition of “public charge” by which visas and permanent residency may be denied to immigrant applicants, in direct contradiction to established law preventing discrimination of any person on a basis of disability. Read more about this rule here. Click here to submit a public comment. The public comment period ends December 10, so submit your comment now.
