PDA Says “Healthcare Not Warfare!”
Stop Global Warming, and End Poverty
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was founded in 2004 to organize inside and outside of the Democratic Party on major issues including “Healthcare Not Warfare”, stopping global warming, and promoting economic and social justice. Yesterday, I met with the huge coalition working for the Medicare for All Act of 2019, with activists on Capitol Hill organizing for clean renewable energy, and at the launch of the new Poverty Council at the Democratic National Committee Winter Meetings. We at PDA are not expecting you to travel to D.C. and meet all day. No. We’re working hard to empower you to make your activism easier and more effective.
Last week at this time, PDAers from across the USA were meeting in New Mexico, planning specific steps to elect progressives, create more chapters, and enact more progressive legislation. We put plans into place and new actions are already in progress. We have a generous donor willing to match your gift dollar for dollar to help support our increasingly ambitious efforts—including exciting new initiatives to build on the astoundingly successful Poverty Council launch, led by PDA’s Susie Shanon. Read PDA’s Executive Director Alan Minsky’s article about this effort in The Nation. Will you pitch in to help us build on our momentum right now?

PDA is teaming up with Code Pink and our Advisory Board member and original cofounder Medea Benjamin mobilizing to prevent war and regime change in Venezuela. Please click here to contact congressional Democrats using Code Pink’s action alert, and urge them to stand up against Trump’s illegal regime change policies. We held a briefing call with Medea Benjamin in support of this action. The recording will be available soon.
We worked with National Nurses United and coalition allies on Medicare For All Barnstorming events last week. Thanks to all of our efforts, Rep. Jayapal’s Medicare for All Act of 2019 will be introduced by month’s end with more than 100 original cosponsors. Please call Congress right now at 202-858-1717 to urge your Representative to sign on as an original cosponsor, and to demand hearings on MFA in the House. With your support, we will continue and expand our “Healthcare Not Warfare” campaign and other actions.
PDA is working with our sibling organization People Demanding Action on exciting webinars to focus on election integrity and ending voter suppression; outreach to rural, minority, and younger progressives; as well as organizing on college campuses—and much more! We can’t do anything without your strong support.
We hope you appreciate these action alerts, briefing calls, congressional meetings, webinars, and other organizing efforts enough to support us so we can keep them coming. Please pitch in $1000, $100, or whatever you can afford to support our organizing for progress. Your gift today will be doubled!
