Today, on the first Medicare For All Monday during Black History Month, we at Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) are mobilizing to elect progressive candidates who steadfastly advocate for Medicare For All (MFA).

This, because the Medicare For All Act will accomplish critically important goals including reversing unconscionable racial disparities in healthcare. Everything is at stake as Democrats nominate candidates for Congress and the Presidency beginning today at the Iowa Caucuses. The Iowa Caucuses will be widely considered a referendum on MFA and other progressive policies and reforms we need.

Bernie Sanders elevated the effort to achieve Medicare For All like never before through his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. He “wrote the damn bill” for Medicare For All. That, and his life-long commitment to progress are among the many reasons PDA activists overwhelmingly voted to endorse Bernie for President.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal lead-sponsored the Medicare For All Act in the House, and she endorsed Bernie—as have leading progressive Representatives Mark Pocan, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ro Khanna, and Ilhan Omar. So have the National Nurses United (NNU), the Sunrise Movement, and many other truly progressive leaders and organizations.

PDA has also endorsed congressional candidates to work with a President Sanders to accomplish goals we’ve fought for since our founding in 2004. We’re walking the walk, working on the ground to elect Medicare For All champions!

Our Executive Director Alan Minsky is in Iowa for the caucuses, while other PDAers are mobilizing in the early primary states: New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. We’re also organizing in California—by far the most important single primary—where voting by mail is already underway.

We founded PDA to change politics in America. To do that, we need empowered progressive champions in the White House and Congress. To elect progressives, we need your help now.

PDA-endorsed candidates are running strong on our issues: Green New Deal to address the Climate Emergency, College and Jobs For All, Criminal Justice, Immigration Justice, ERA Now, Election Integrity, and especially Medicare For All. All of these overwhelmingly popular policies resonate with the public and energize voters.

With the help of supporters like you, we are poised to make history. Our goal is nothing short of sweeping Economic and Social Justice, and—thanks to you—every day we’re getting closer.

To achieve the progress we need, we must mobilize to elect and empower a Progressive President with a progressive majority in the House and Senate.
