Progressive champion Elizabeth Warren ended 2018 by announcing that she is running for President as a no-holds-barred progressive! We, at Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), couldn’t be more thrilled! We look forward to a fair, exciting primary process with an open exchange of ideas—not a gossipy, superficial shouting match like the GOP had in 2016.

As 2019 begins, the progressive agenda is front and center in the American national dialogue. In a couple of days, the new 116th Congress will be seated, and Democrats will re-take the House.  PDA’s allies in the Congressional Progressive Caucus are stronger than ever.

In recent years the policy proposals put forward by progressives have been treated by the mainstream press as a curiosity. Now they will be at the heart of the debate in the majority party, with the party’s progressive superstars championing them from national campaign trail—and with PDA knocking on doors on Capitol Hill, doing letter drops across the country, building more momentum for the type of politics this country truly needs.

In the New Year, PDA has one fund raising priority above all others—to have enough sustaining donors to guarantee they we meet our monthly budget every month. Right now, we need about $5,000 more in monthly sustainer donations to get to that goal.  Starting today we’re going to keep track of how close we are to that goal of $5,000 in 2019; and we’ll keep you updated on our progress.

The sooner we get there, the sooner we can focus even more of our attention on the essential work we do, building the progressive movement and advancing progressive policies.  Indeed, raising $5,000 more in monthly sustaining dollars will be the greatest financial achievement in recent PDA history.

So, tell your friends, family, and all your political allies that PDA, the organization most-responsible for the rise of progressive politics in our time, is looking for their help so we can do even more. In 2019, we want to build so much progressive momentum that we will set the table for winning both houses of Congress and that other house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in 2020. Then we’ll pass legislation, and sign it into law, that truly works for the people and the planet!

We at PDA can’t promise that outcome, but no one will harder to try to make it a reality. So, please consider becoming a PDA sustainer today. With your strong support, we have a real opportunity to set the agenda going forward. Let’s make 2019 the Year of the Progressive!
