Join Our Healthcare Emergency Town Hall
Sunday, 4pm ET/1pm PT

Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) remains steadfast in our call for #SinglePayer expanded and improved #MedicareForAll, because we know that’s how we achieve equity and quality that meets the public need for #HealthcareJustice in this country, particularly in times of very great need such as #COVID19.

COVID19Furthermore, we acknowledge and call for supporting and expanding the single-payer system set up decades ago for our seniors and the disabled with the establishment of traditional Medicare. Congress is debating doing exactly that in negotiations surrounding the budget and reconciliation processes taking place as sessions in both houses reconvene for the fall.

At this critical moment, we demand nothing less than adding dental, vision, and hearing benefits, the ability to negotiate for lower drug prices, a cap on out-of-pocket expenses, and lowering the Medicare eligibility age. And we do so with medical and social sciences as our foundation, because we know that these measures will save money, not cost more, and will save lives, lots of lives.

Join us for the PDA Healthcare Emergency Town Hall every Sunday 4p ET / 1p PT. This Sunday, September 12, we will discuss the status of these Medicare expansion reconciliation goals and the transition to advocate for Medicare for All.

Sign up to volunteer and/or donate as well if you are able.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.

Thanks, and onward!

PS: See previous Town Halls archived on YouTube here.

PPS: Special for Healthcare Human Right supporters: order  one of our new Medicare For All bumper stickers TODAY at the PDA Store and we’ll send you a free Healthcare Not Warfare sticker as well.

I hope this is a reasonable question. I’m a senior who chose to have a Medicare Advantage Plan over traditional Medicare with a supplement. In the 8 years I’ve been on an MAP I’ve never had to put out a penny except for a small copay for new glasses. The Coachella Valley has terrific MAPs many of them include a budget for OTC Medical Supplies. These seem like great cooperative ventures between Government & the private sector. Why wouldn’t we be aiming to expand these plans? Why is “single payer” better? I know not all Maps are alike but we have the best examples right here in the Coachella Valley.
PS I’ve never been denied a specialty service or referral. And i don’t pay any extra for the coverage and it includes dental, hearing, transportation, etc.

Great question Tim, and of course it’s wonderful that your MA plan is working out well for you. Single Payer expanded and improved Medicare for All will provide what you apparently have to everyone. It lowers costs by eliminating administrative waste fraud and abuse, including in MA plans and all other profit-first commercial entities in Healthcare that currently offer their products based on market incentives rather than public needs. The lower costs overall will provide more preventive care and improve outcomes for all of us. So you see even those who have good care now will have better care with Medicare for All. Or as the late Sen. Paul Wellstone used to say, “We all do better when we all do better.” Thanks and onward!
