Help Us Organize For Medicare For All
RSVP for Our Healthcare is a Human Right Conference Call
this Wednesday November 14th at 9PM Eastern / 6PM Pacific
We celebrate victories by MFA candidates on Election Day. With the midterms now behind us, except for late counts in a few very significant states, we turn our attention back to the issue of #HealthcareJustice with some very significant recent and upcoming events and actions.
Your monthly donation of $20.18, $12, $10, or $5 gives us the ongoing resources to keep up the fight for healthcare as a human right. We can only continue with your support. To keep up our efforts, we need your help now!
First, the national annual meeting of Physicians for a National Health Plan (PNHP) convened this weekend in San Diego where such notables as Bonnie Castillo Executive Director of National Nurses United (NNU), Wendell Potter—author and famed Healthcare whistleblower, and several other MFA champions spoke.
Legendary PNHP founders Drs. Steffie Woolhandler and David Himmelstein updated us with shocking new evidence that U.S. Healthcare is still very much in crisis, and getting worse all the time. We held substantive discussions focusing on what constitutes real versus faux Medicare For All, and proposed plans and efforts for implementation. You can find more information about the conference and further actions at pnhp.org.
Second, we invite you to join PDA, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Our Revolution, NNU, and many other coalition partners including Healthcare-Now, Labor Campaign for Single Payer, Public Citizen, on a nationwide conference call to discuss the next steps for MFA tomorrow / Tuesday evening. We expect updates on Bernie’s monumental bill S.B.1804 and also on expected next steps for H.R.676 in the House of Representatives.
With Keith Ellison’s election to serve as Attoney General Of Minnesota, we will work with a new lead sponsor and new cosponsors generated by the many new Democratic Congress members joining in the new session in January. We are all eager to hear what are proposed next steps that we can take to move our issue forward. RSVP HERE
Number three: PDAction’s Healthcare Human Rights issue team will continue this essential organizing on our regular monthly conference call this Wednesday November 14th 6pm PT, 9pm ET at which we will discuss all of the above events and actions.
As usual, the call is open to all who wish to engage and help set policy for PDA on this critical issue. As we saw once again in the elections last week, Democrats can win when they present themselves as champions for the cause, and the cause of #HealthcareJustice remains of the highest priority even now as we move into the next elections. RSVP HERE
Our HCHR work continues
PDAmerica Healthcare Human Rights (HCHR) activists and PDAction Issue Organizing Team (IOT) members continue to raise awareness every day in canvassing, town halls and movie showings, and by telephone and video conferencing to further refine our message and gather more and more momentum for our movement.
Please sign up for future Healthcare Human Rights announcements here. Scroll down and check the box. Please join us for these important calls to offer reports on this effort from your own community and state, and help PDA National to better define our policy moving forward.
The larger movement for Healthcare which must result in ALL the people getting ALL of the care, we at PDA know will only be achieved when the corporate welfare of big insurance and big pharma are eliminated in favor of Healthcare directed by of and for we the people.
As all of us at PDA know and Dr. King told us, “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle.…”
If you can give $5 per month, that’s great! $10? Wonderful! $25? Spectacular! Whatever is good for you is great for us. Thanks so much for anything you can do right now to help us reach our magic 100 new monthly sustainers goal.
Onward!!
In solidarity,
Dr. Bill Honigman for Alan, Mike F., Mike H., Deb, Janis, Dan, Kimberly, Bryan, and Shayna—Your PDA National Team
