Demand Questions About Poverty
In The DNC Presidential Debates
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) hopes you plan to watch tonight’s presidential debate. Follow us on twitter at @PDAmerica and live tweet with us. Specifically watch for questions about poverty.
Sadly, there have been no questions addressing poverty in the three previous rounds of debates. We predict nothing will change in tonight’s debate—or in subsequent debates—unless we do something about it.

Tonight’s debate is one of the most important in history, as the strength of the truly progressive wing of the Democratic Party continues to grow.
We anticipate watching a revitalized “Bionic” Bernie Sanders, the man who transformed American politics, making his first major public appearance in the weeks since undergoing a medical procedure.
Amid all of this evening’s anticipated drama, we hope that all PDA supporters will look out for one thing in particular: questions about poverty in America.
In the three rounds of debates so far, there hasn’t been even one question about the epidemic levels of poverty in our society, impacting approximately 140 million Americans.
Sadly, the refusal to address poverty is a shameful element of mainstream “moderate” Democrats. The DNC hierarchy is reluctant even to use the word “poverty.” So, it shouldn’t be surprising that these DNC sanctioned debates shamefully avoid the subject.
Please see PDA Executive Director Alan Minsky’s article in The Nation magazine* about the struggle of PDA activist Susie Shannon to form the first ever Democratic National Committee (DNC) Poverty Council.
We at PDA refuse let the DNC or the mainstream media ignore the life and death struggle of millions of marginalized people. We demand economic justice, and we advocate for policies that will help all Americans suffering from economic distress.
We demand comprehensive solutions to poverty, hunger, and homelessness. Please sign our petition demanding that poverty be addressed in the Democratic Presidential debates.
You can help! Sign the petition, live Tweet with PDA, and pitch in to support our work towards eradicating poverty from our society—the richest in human history. There’s more than enough wealth to go around. No one should be homeless, hungry, or poor.
